Story Behind

Baan 26

Kah Fei, the restaurant director, is a Malaysian individual with a profound passion for Thai culture, particularly Thai cuisine. Through years of experience working in Thai restaurants, Kah Fei acquired a mastery of Thai cooking through keen observation. A distinctive characteristic of the restaurant is its commitment to presenting dishes that faithfully capture the essence of their original Thai counterparts.

In 2006, he founded Baan 26 Thai Seafood Restaurant in Changkat Bukit Bintang's vibrant area, rapidly emerging as Kuala Lumpur's premier destination for wining, dining, and entertainment. Even today, the area shows no signs of slowing down, and Baan 26, named after its house number, has stood the test of time, adhering to authentic flavors while evolving to cater to changing trends. As night falls, the establishment transforms into a lively bar, complementing its restaurant identity.

Baan 26 offers a selection of five esteemed dishes complemented by a serving of fragrant Thai rice. These dishes include steamed fish with lime and chilies, Thai basil leaf minced chicken, Thai-style stir-fried brinjal with basil leaf, Thai mango salad with crispy catfish, and red tom yam with prawn and oyster mushroom. A notable highlight is the steamed fish, which remains delightfully effervescent on its platter, expertly kept warm from below with miniature burners.

The steamed sea bass possesses a delightful sweetness, moisture, and tenderness amalgam. Sour lime and fiery chilies add a captivating medley of flavors that transcends the ordinary. The minced chicken, delicately arranged atop homemade beancurd with a lusciously smooth consistency, effortlessly dissolves in the mouth. The stir-fried brinjal, meticulously cut into bite-size portions, offers a tantalizing combination of spiciness and delectable taste.

Another standout creation is the mango salad, featuring crispy catfish with an ethereal, light texture that evokes the appearance and flavor of traditional fish floss. Finally, the red tom yam emerges as a personal favorite, characterized by its rich, invigorating thickness, intense heat, and unique flavor profile. Although indulging in this dish may elicit a tingling sensation, accompanied by watery eyes, a runny nose, and a tingling tongue, it remains utterly irresistible due to its addictive nature, compelling one to continually spoon it into their mouth. Overall, Baan 26 exemplifies Kah Fei's dedication to presenting an authentic Thai dining experience where patrons can savor the finest flavors of Thai cuisine in an unparalleled manner.
